The Apple that I paint is imbued with life, the human spirit, and a sense of purpose. To paint the fruit is to explore life, its many shapes, sizes and colours, a symbolic narrative of life’s myriad circumtances and situations. There is the blood-red apple that evokes violence, the tender green variety that exudes the bashfulness of youth, they mirror the universal human experience of confronting various challenges in the journey for survival in the real world.
Why do I keep painting apples all these years? That is because I have a special affinity for the fruit. It is my constant companion throughout my life, be it the time when I was struggling in life, be it the time when I was struggling in life prior to making art my professional career or even today when I have established myself as a full time artist.
Many of his paintings are acquired by Hong Leong Bank Bhd. Malayan Banking Bhd.RHB Bank Bhd. United Overseas Bank Limited and the Embassy of France in Singapore.
