Lye Yau Fatt, born in 1950 in Kedah, is a highly innovative artist renowned for his contributions to both printmaking and sculpture. His artistic journey led him to acquire his skills at a printmaking workshop in New York in 1986, an experience that greatly influenced his creative path.
During his artistic development, Lye had the privilege of being mentored by the pioneering artist Cheong Soo Pieng from Singapore. Under Cheong’s guidance, Lye found inspiration in Cheong’s distinctive ‘Nanyang Style,’ characterized by a rich palette of earthy tones that imbued his works with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Lye’s artistic expression is a testament to his mastery of mixed media, including watercolor, acrylic, and charcoal. Through these versatile mediums, he skillfully captures the visual essence and color structures found in the beauty of the natural world, creating works of art that are a testament to his creative brilliance
