Born: 1961, Kedah
Maamor began his career as a machinist in the early 80s in Petaling Jaya. He then worked as a curator’s assistant in a gallery in KL, which eventually led him to pursue a career as an artist. During his time as a curator’s assistant, he had the opportunity to meet the renowned artist Khalil Ibrahim, who later became his mentor. Influenced by Khalil Ibrahim, Maamor significantly improved his skills in watercolor painting. Subsequently, he created his “trademark icon” — the Cakcibor Series (Dragonflies).
Apart from that, Maamor Jantan also produced a series of paintings featuring kampung scenes, particularly his “Hari Raya Series,” which gained high demand within the industry.
